LRC Extension Guideline
Proposal for extending LRC Hours
: There is demand from students to extend LRC hours, especially from P1s since the LRC closes at 5 p.m. each day and P1 classes do not end until 5 p.m.
On day before a P1/P2 exam, the LRC will stay open until 9 p.m.
o Each Friday, an email will be send out to the classes about LRC hours for next week.
Using the LRC:
From 5-9 p.m. on specified dates, the entire LRC will be dedicated to self-study only. Room 128, 129, and Student Lounge will be available for group study.
o Students will not be allow to print or use the computers due to (1) the entire LRC dedicated to self-study and (2) no support personnel in case of troubleshooting.
o Students are encouraged to print our study materials before the computer lab closes at 5 p.m.
Food & drink:
Like normal operating hours, there will be no food and drink in the LRC after-hours.
A list of faculty-approved students will serve on the LRC committee.
o There must be a committee member present in the LRC during extended hours to enforce the guidelines within this proposal.
§ Members staying in the LRC after-hours MUST be done on a volunteering basis.
o In the event that no committee member is available, the LRC hours will not be extended that day.
Due to expensive computer equipments and books, for this trial period, ONLY Pharmacy students will be allowed in from 5-9 p.m.
Students are encouraged to park in lot 16B (which is free after 8 p.m.), walk in a group, carpool, and/or use UHDPS’ Security Escorts service.
o Security Escorts service: A UHDPS officer will escort students to locations beginning and ending on campus. This is free and available to all UH students. They can be reach at 713-743-3333.
There will be a 4-week trial period and a evaluation to see if this can be implemented permanently.
o Any violation of the rules in this guideline will end the LRC extend-hours immediately.
