Purpose:
There is demand from students to extend LRC hours, especially from P1s since
the LRC closes at 5 p.m. each day and P1 classes do not end until 5 p.m.
Guidelines:

Hours extension: On day before a P1/P2 exam, the LRC will
stay open until 9 p.m.
o
Each
Friday, an email will be send out to the classes about LRC hours for next week.
·
Using the LRC: From 5-9 p.m. on specified dates, the
entire LRC will be dedicated to self-study only. Room 128, 129, and Student Lounge
will be available for group study.
o
Students
will not be allow to print or use the computers due to (1) the entire LRC
dedicated to self-study and (2) no support personnel in case of
troubleshooting.
o
Students
are encouraged to print our study materials before the computer lab closes at 5
p.m.

Food & drink: Like normal operating hours, there will
be no food and drink in the LRC after-hours.
·
Personnel: A list of faculty-approved students will serve on the LRC committee.
o
There
must be a committee member present in the LRC during extended hours to enforce
the guidelines within this proposal.
§ Members staying in the LRC after-hours
MUST be done on a volunteering basis.
o
In
the event that no committee member is available, the LRC hours will not be
extended that day.

Security: Due to expensive computer equipments and
books, for this trial period, ONLY Pharmacy students will be allowed in from
5-9 p.m.
·
Safety: Students are encouraged to park in lot
16B (which is free after 8 p.m.), walk in a group, carpool, and/or use UHDPS’
Security Escorts service.
o
Security
Escorts service: A UHDPS officer will escort students to locations beginning
and ending on campus. This is free and available to all UH students. They can
be reach at 713-743-3333.

Trial run: There will be a 4-week trial period and a
evaluation to see if this can be implemented permanently.
o
Any
violation of the rules in this guideline will end the LRC extend-hours immediately.
